Board Highlights
The monthly meeting of MVEC’s Board of Directors was called to order 8:30 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012. All directors were present with the exception of President Michelle Morrison. Vice Chairman Bob Hauer led the meeting. Highlights include the following:
- Approved February financials. Residential energy sales lag budget by 4.6% due to mild weather and commercial usage was down 2.1%. Wholesale power prices are also well under budget, producing favorable first quarter margins.
- Met with representatives of Friendship Church, Prior Lake, to review line construction charges on a recent project. The Board concluded MVEC’s policies were properly administered and circumstances were insufficient to merit an exception.
- Learned about several new gravel mines being considered in Scott County including location, scope, timelines, etc. Both are large electric loads and the cooperative staff is in the process of studying options to accommodate those needs.
- Received management reports on a variety of issues including: Burnscott Substation enhancements, RUS loan approval, subsidiary businesses update, member satisfaction survey and labor relations.

Board of Directors
MVEC is governed by nine member-owners who serve as the cooperative’s Board of Directors. Board members are elected at the cooperative’s Annual Meeting and each director serves a three-year term.
MVEC’s service area map shows the cooperative’s three director districts. It is drawn according to population and equal board representation.
