Money contributed to Operation Round Up (ORU) is administered by a tax-exempt, nonprofit corporation called the Minnesota Valley Electric Trust.

The Trust is a separate organization from MVEC and is governed by a nine-person, volunteer Board of Directors.

Contributions will generally be made to 501(c)3 organizations whose activities benefit members of the MVEC service area in the following categories:

  • Community service

    Operation Round Up

    MVEC has awarded local, charitable organizations over $1 million in grants since its inception in 1995.

  • Education and youth
  • Environment
  • Emergency energy assistance
  • Disaster relief

Contributions are generally not made for:

  • Lobbying, political and religious organizations
  • Veteran, fraternal and labor organizations
  • Fundraising dinners, raffles, events
  • National fund drives

Request for ORU Grant Funds

Completed applications must be received no later than 4 p.m. the First day of February, May, August and November. Applications must be complete; an incomplete application may not be considered.

    If your answer to #5 is YES, then skip to Question 8.
    If your answer to #5 is NO, then complete both Questions 6 and 7.
  • If you answered No to #5, a copy of your organization's financial statements and IRS income tax exemption letter must be submitted.

    Please note that Income Tax Exemption is not the same as Sales and Use Tax Exemption.
