There’s no need to sweat it out during the warm summer months. At MVEC we want you to stay cool, calm and collected on those hot summer days with convenient cooling products that can be easily combined with MVEC’s great Energy Wise programs.
Air
Conditioners
Many homes within MVEC’s service area have a central air conditioner.
Minnesotans tend to use the most electricity in the summer – therefore,
the summer is an important time to conserve energy.
Save 10% each year!
MVEC offers an Energy Wise program for air conditioners. If you choose
to participate, you will receive a 10% discount on all energy usage billed to your main meter on statements dated June through September each year by allowing
MVEC to cycle the air conditioner on and off every 15 minutes, up to a
maximum of 200 hours in a cooling season.
Heat pumps and air conditioners must be central systems to operate on
Energy Wise programs.

Air
Source Heat Pumps
We know what you’re thinking – how can a heat pump cool my
home? With an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), you get air conditioning plus
a cost-effective supplemental heat source for the spring and fall. Did
you know an ASHP can easily deliver $2-$3 worth of cooling or heating
for every dollar spent to operate it when combined with an Energy Wise
program. Get worry free cooling and heating with this
economical product.
Heat pumps and air conditioners must be central systems to operate on
Energy Wise programs and qualify for MVEC rebates. Mini splits do not
qualify as a central system.

Ground Source Heat Pumps
A Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) relies on
the relative warmth of the earth for their cooling
and heating production. This product lets you take advantage of consistent temperatures below ground, all year round. A GSHP functions just like other types of heat pumps, using a refrigeration cycle to move heat between the indoors and outdoors. These units can be up to 300% efficient.
