The monthly meeting of MVEC’s Board of Directors was called to order on Monday, August 30, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. The August board meeting was a special joint meeting with MVEC and Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association, located in Rockford, MN. Highlights of the meeting include the following:

• Guest speakers from both MVEC and WHE’s wholesale power suppliers – Great River Energy (Maple Grove, MN) and Basin Electric Power Cooperative (Bismarck, ND). Wholesale power costs represent two thirds of MVEC’s costs. The recession has had significant impacts on this part of the industry. Presentations focused on GRE and BEPC’s latest projections on transmission projects and costs, economic and financial updates, new generation resources and long range financial forecasts.
