The price member-owners pay for electricity is determined by MVEC’s Board of Directors. As a not-for-profit cooperative, our rates are designed to cover the costs of wholesale power, transmission and distribution related costs.

Please note, a $20.00 account set-up fee will appear on your bill to activate your service. This charge also covers administrative costs associated with establishing a new account.

Members are responsible for contacting the cooperative and providing reasonable notice of transfer or termination of electric service.

General Service Rate
This applies to single-phase and three-phase residential and commercial members who have a monthly peak demand less than 100 kW.

• Single-Phase (Residential)                                                 $8.80/month
• Three-Phase (Commercial – less than 100 kW)              $18.80/month

• First 2,000 kWh – Summer rate (June – September)       $0.083/kWh
  Excess - $0.075/kWh
• First 2,000 kWh – Winter rate (October – May)              $0.076/kWh
  Excess - $0.068/kWh

Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment (WPCA)
A Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment (WPCA) may be implemented each month to deal with fluctuations in power costs while keeping the base rate stable. The WPCA is intended to reflect the wholesale electricity costs and is only charged to MVEC members when our wholesale power provider charges MVEC.

Franchise Fee
A franchise fee is a flat city fee that applies to all energy suppliers (electric and gas). This is a requirement of our franchise agreement with the city and MVEC makes no profit from the collection and payment of this itemized fee. Please note: This is not applicable to all members.
