Cooling Programs
Energy
Wise Unmetered Air Conditioning Program – 10%
savings
Save money while staying cool during the summer months. This program is
free to join and you will receive a 10% discount on all
residential energy usage billed on your electric statements dated during
the months of June, July, August and September. Program requirements
and details.
Members who enroll by May 16, 2008 will
receive a $5 gift certificate to Dairy Queen as a token of our appreciation.
- The 10% discount applies to your statements dated during the
months of June-September.
- MVEC installs an energy management switch (free of charge) on your
home near your central air conditioner.
- During peak electricity usage, the switch cycles your central air
conditioner on and off. The furnace fan continues to circulate cool
air in your home.
- By having your air conditioner cycled this helps to control the energy
demand and helps the cooperative save on wholesale power costs.
- Your monthly savings will appear on your electric statement each month
under “Energy Wise Savings this Month.”
- Participation in this program automatically carries forward every
year.
- To participate you must have a residential service with MVEC. Window
or through-the-wall air conditioners (plug in units) are not eligible
unless they are hard wired into the home’s electric service panel.
- Members who rent their home must have the home owner’s written
permission to join.
- Members with small businesses or more than one central air conditioner
will receive a $9/month bill credit on statements dated during the months
of June – September of every year. You must use a minimum of 200
kWh each month to qualify for the bill credit.
- Members must participate for a minimum of one year.
- Promotion details:
This promotion if for new sign-ups only. Members already participating
do not qualify. Dairy Queen certificates will mail by June 6, 2008.

Energy Wise Metered Electric Heating Programs
Warm those hard to heat areas of your home with electric heat. This Energy Wise program is for any type of permanently wired electric heating system. Heating options include:
- Baseboard heaters
- Cove heaters

- Electric thermal storage
- Fan forced heaters
- Garage heaters
- Heat Pumps
- In-floor heating
- Plenum heaters
- Water Heaters
Program details
- On this program members receive a lower electric rate - $.038/kWh.
- All electric heating products (including water heaters) are switched to a backup heat source during peak electricity usage times.
- All wiring costs are the responsibility of the member. Installation is available through MVEC’s network of local electricians.
- Installation costs vary.
- A wiring affidavit is required before MVEC can install the Energy Wise meter.

Electric Water Heating Programs Energy Wise Unmetered Electric Water Heating Program - Save Up to $72!
This free Energy Wise program helps reduce energy costs associated with running an electric water heater and you will save $72 annually. That means less energy use, lower operating costs and a cleaner environment for all of us.
Program requirements and details
- Members receive a $6.00 bill credit each month on their electric bill.
- MVEC installs an energy management switch (free of charge). The water heater is controlled only during peak electricity usage times through this switch.

- Electric water heater requirement is 50 gallons.
- Members must use a 200 kWh minimum each month to qualify for this program.
- Participation in this program carries forward every year.
- Once MVEC receives the sign up form we will contact you to set up an appointment to install the energy management switch. This procedure takes about 1½ hours and MVEC will need to have access to the water heater.
- Members who rent their home must have the home owner’s written permission to join this program.
- Members must participate for a minimum of one year.

Energy Wise Metered Electric Water Heating Program
This program operates a lot like the Unmetered Electric Water Heating Program. An energy management switch is installed by an electrician at the member’s expense and your electric water heater will be cycled only when there are peak electricity usage times.
Program details
- On this program members receive a lower electric rate - $.038/kWh.
- Electric water heaters are separately metered from the rest of the household usage.
- 50 gallon water heaters do not qualify for this program.
