Bill Heinlein (incumbent)

Goal as a Director: The new technologies of Solar and Wind and the continuing pressure of the EPA and Governmental regulations relating to the environmental impact of our industry, are forcing Electrical Cooperatives around the country, to seek and search out programs and the incentives that will benefit our members by maintaining the service and reliability they deserve, and expect, at acceptable costs. The MVEC staff has been very effective in achieving these goals and will continue to do so. Our membership has grown to 42,000 through the acquisition of an area previously serviced by Alliant Energy. With the larger service area, this will allow MVEC to spread our operating costs across a wider base. The decisions made by this board will have an impact on you, myself and future MVEC members for years to come. As a member of the Co-op and your representative on the Board, I will continue to work with the other eight Board members in achieving these objectives.
Prior Lake | Years as MVEC member: 9
Current Occupation: Senior Test Engineer at UTC Aerospace. Responsible for building test equipment systems and writing software to test aircraft sensors. After 23 years of service, retired from US Air Force/Air National Guard at the rank of Major. Hobbies: Skiing/Snowboarding with my kids, golfing, camping
Goal as a Director: I was raised on a farm and grew to understand the importance of uninterrupted electrical service to our business/farm. My father was an electrician so I learned about electricity, its cost and its distribution at an early age. Being a director involves working within EPA guidelines, expanding electrical service to new areas, and exploring new energy types while keeping costs low. While working as civil and electrical engineer, I’ve been successful in many projects in which schedule, cost and goals all needed to be considered and resolved. I’d like to carry forward what I learned from my experiences working on a farm and as an electrical and a civil engineer to provide great service at the lowest price possible. My goal is to represent all of you to the best of my abilities.
