Charge your EV the Energy Wise way!
MVEC offers you EV24, a 24-hour, Time-of-Use (TOU) Electric Vehicle charging program where you can charge your vehicle whenever needed, with electric rates that fluctuate by the time of the day. The times and charges are a reflection of power supply, power demand, and wholesale power costs – passing along the savings during non-peak times. By recording EV usage with a dedicated electric meter on your home, your EV usage is separated from your home’s general usage and is tracked over fluctuating time-based rate periods. Charge overnight to take advantage of the best rate, yet have electricity available at all times of the day, if you need it.
Electric Vehicle Charging Rates
*Rate can include variable Wholesale Power Supply Adjustment.
Save money on charging your EV by doing it during our EV-Wise time! To ensure sufficient charging time, this rate starts at 10:00 p.m. and ends at 5:00 a.m. seven days a week! By joining, you will also help MVEC with managing the reliability of our grid. MVEC can help reduce its wholesale electric bill, and the savings are passed on to the members with lower rates.
Three Steps to Join MVEC’s EV24 Program
-
- Start with having the contractor of your choice complete onsite work. This may include adding a circuit breaker to the Breaker Panel, running wire, installing a charger or outlet, and metering through the EV24 off-peak meter housing. A meter socket must be installed outside – four to six feet above ground level. Depending on your wiring configuration (see below), this may also include special equipment at a nominal cost. Check with your contractor to discuss your requirements, then call us at 952-492-2313 to request parts.
- MVEC will ship the parts needed for your configuration (at no cost)
- You may choose to pick-up the parts at MVEC Headquarters the business day following your receipt of order confirmation.
- When onsite work is complete and the EV is in your possession, call MVEC at 952-492-2313 to schedule an EV24 meter installation. Note: this is free of charge to our members. Your EV24 rates will not apply until this step has taken place.
If the above steps or required work have not been fully completed as specified in the manner above, you will be assessed a trip charge to compensate for the time taken by our meter technicians. - MVEC will install the EV24 meter and add it to your account. Your electric vehicle is now actively on the EV24 rate plan, and you are eligible for a $150 rebate.
