Reduce your energy costs by enrolling your electric water heater in MVEC’s Energy Wise program.
How it Works
- MVEC installs a free energy management switch on your water heater.
- During times of peak electricity demand, the switch temporarily pauses your water heater.
- Installation takes about 1½ hours, and MVEC will need access to your water heater.
Program Requirements
- Must use a minimum of 200 kWh per month.
- Must participate for at least one year (program renews automatically).
- Renters need written permission from their landlord.
- Electric water heaters only—gas water heaters are not eligible. (Tip: If your water heater has a vent pipe coming out of the top, it’s gas.)

Program Details
- An electrician installs the energy management switch (member expense).

Here’s how they work:
- Fans draw in warm air.
- Heat is transferred to the water in the storage tank.
- Cool air is vented out, while hot water is ready for use.
Program and Rebates
- Additional state and federal rebates may also apply.
- HPWHs are not eligible for MVEC’s Energy Wise programs.
- Rebates are available through MVEC’s online portal once installation is complete.
- MVEC does not sell HPWHs. Contact your local contractor to purchase and install.

Warranty Information
- Register your product online to receive a complimentary update from the standard 10-year warranty to a Lifetime Warranty.
- Tank Warranty: Limited lifetime warranty against leaks (non-transferable).
- Parts Warranty: 6-year coverage on components such as elements, thermostats, and valves.
- Labor Warranty: Full labor coverage for warrantable repairs or replacements for 1 year from the date of purchase.
- Follow all installation instructions provided in the product manual carefully.
- Improper installation or failure to follow manufacturer guidelines may void your warranty.
- It is your responsibility to ensure your installer is fully informed of all installation requirements.
- Use of dielectric unions will void the manufacturer’s warranty.

Peak Shave Water Heating vs Storage Water Heating
Successful participation in the Energy Wise water heating programs requires a water heater appropriately sized for your household. If your electric water heater has a capacity of less than 85 gallons, please confirm your eligibility by completing the Sizing Agreement.
