MVEC currently has the following open positions:
Internships
An internship at MVEC is more than sitting and listening – you’ll be working on real-life situations to further your career goals. Our interns spend 10% of their time collaborating on a team project to develop project management skills. The deadline to apply for an internship is 4 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2024. Our paid internships start in mid-May and end in mid-August and are available in the areas of:
- Electrical Engineering – Will be currently working toward an Electrical Engineering-Power emphasis degree. Will work cross-departmentally on construction budget and associated costs, complete design and staking functions, learn engineering system modeling, and will ensure projects align with federal/state grant opportunities. - Environmental Health and Safety – Will be currently working toward a degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field. Will review employee safety programs and recommend improvements, update the safety section of onboarding, perform compliance audits and risk assessments, and assist in incident investigations. - Human Resources – Will be currently working toward a degree in Human Resources or related field. Will conduct electronic file management, assist in reviewing employee policies and procedures, help design a wellness program, assist with recruiting efforts and succession planning, and work with new software implementation. - Operations – Will be working toward a Business degree or related field. Will develop a comprehensive business plan for the potential hiring of a Utility-Operated Construction and Maintenance Electrician. Will partner with other sources to identify target market opportunities, understand MVEC processes, and provide financial projections. Learn more
Advanced Step Apprentice or Journeyman Lineworker
Constructs and maintains overhead and underground electrical distribution lines in a safe, reliable, and timely manner. Carries out daily work, implements process improvements, suggests new ideas, and proactively identifies and resolves problems. Requires Line Technician Certificate from a certified vocational school and working toward completion of Apprentice Lineman/Power Line Technician Training program. Learn more
